Sangiang Disco Squad

Hi! It's been a while since my last post. Actually I've been to some places after my trip to Labuan Bajo, but it was quiet difficult to make some times to write (I've been so busy for weeks :'( but will update the stories soon) And here I am, finally able to share my most recent trip.

November 12th, 2016

For this time, I was travelling with other 25 friends from all around Jakarta. It was a short getaway, a weekend-trip to Sangiang Island which located in Cilegon, Banten Province. We took around 2-hours drive from Tangerang/Jakarta to Anyer Harbor before starting our trip to the Island.

Just arrive at Anyer Harbour. The girls' wefie

After having a nasi kuning (turmeric rice) box for our breakfast, we prayed together and got into the boat. The first thing to do for enjoying the sea will be: snorkeling and free dive. We took approximately 30 minutes boat-ride before getting to the snorkeling spot. The weather was so nice on that day. Sunny, blue sky and clear, calm sea. Feeling so excited, I soon applied the sunscreen and getting the snorkeling gears ready. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any fins size that match with my feet that they were slipped off from my feet once i tried to dive.

First snorkeling site. The corals were actually bleached already, but you may found many corals in a rose-shape

After spending our energy for snorkeling in 2 different spots, we continued the trip to the Island. We passed a mangrove plantation sites with shallow water, especially in the afternoon. The boat's crew could no longer use the machine to run the motor boat to avoid any accident (stucked / crashed). They had to row the paddle carefully to finally reach the island's entrance.

Our guesthouse for home stay was located exactly in the left and the right sight after we pass the entrance gate. Outside the house, there is a 2x2 meters gazebo which was perfect for playing board games, chit chat, or just sitting back with a fresh coconut water on your hand. We had around two hours to clean up and have some rest before our next to do list, trekking.

Sangiang's next top model part 2 - in the middle of nowhere.
Shy shy sun. You know that, every time I do trekking or hiking, the song that always running in my mind is Ninja Hatori's theme song (mendaki gunung, lewati lembah...) - sorry, just randomly saying.

The bats' cave in the center of the island.
Here, you could experience the eargasm, the wave sound which strongly crash the stones, also the bat's sound that never stop to sing (or arguing maybe because we disturb their afternoon nap). If your nose is pretty sensitive, i suggest you to bring a mask. The smells of the bat's feces was strong enough to make you vomit. We also saw some white fish with a size of baby sharks hanging around in the water. I cant actually believe when the locals said that they are white sharks. Oh, really?

The view from Puncak Harapan. Does it look like Uluwatu in Bali up here?

After taking photos, we laid around at the gazebo on the beach. Happiness is pretty simple, being with your friends on a beautiful place that you've never been, listening to music, eating bakwan jagung and drinking coconut, act and talk silly things but nobody there who will hate you (mellow mode: on) Even we made a disco boomerang, that's why we call ourself Sangiang Disco. We went back to the guest house and had dinner. We had a little farewell party for one of my travel mate, Theo, whom I just met for the first time there. He will back to Australia on the next few days. The party was closed by a bottle of champagne and fireworks show, and the after party would be werewolf game!

Tons of luck Theo!

Got to sleep for 8 hours is something that rarely happen (thank God!). We skipped our itinerary for watching sunrise. We had our breakfast and getting ready for our last snorkeling and free diving time in Sangiang Island. The last snorkeling spot was near the mangrove and beach area. I thought that it will be similar with the previous spot, but the fact the underwater nature was totally stunning. The corals were still colorful and have many kinds of shapes. It has a spacious area of coral reefs with various sea depth level.

The trip was end in the afternoon. Luckily until we got back to the harbor, the weather was so good although we went in rainy seasons and the current was really strong when we head back to the harbor. A weekend-trip is actually not enough! But I was grateful to have new travelmates, new experience, and of course more story to tell to others who i will meet.
